Tombstone, AZ and gunfight at OK Corral thought I had it set to video but apparently not. There is a play of the gunfight and events leading up to it. Wyatt Earp and Marshalls fight it out with cowboys, using pistols and shotgun. Live firing blanks.
After Tombstone I played over 2 days at a lodge in Tucson, AZ. Having electrical was good for weee hitting 90° here.
Touring both the Saguaro National Parks and seeing much more late spring cactus blooming at the Rincon unit.
A Ranger presentation on the Agave plant was quite enlightening, many medicinal, practical uses as well as Tequila. He also shared that this demonstration was the first in a week long Tucson Agave heritage.com demonstration. I looked it up and the next day went to the Agave planting demonstration.
The scenic drives through both Seguaro National Park were very nice. A few short hikes is where most of the pictures came from.
Moving on my route possibilities would take me through Quartsite,AZ and I have read about the clothing optional areas there. Tanya shared with me through the phone as I arrived, got naked, set up camp, set outside and relaxed naked. Practicing Naturist has always been a bucket list item for me! Woohoo!
93° but a brisk 16 mph wind makes it reasonably comfortable. Sorry no pics :(
I spent a week in Las Vegas, NV seeing my dentist and doing a little hiking and touristing. Linda of WIN's flew in and I helped her look at a new travel trailer, it is really nice trailer, small (just as she likes) and solid! Linda had never visited LV before so we did a windshield tour of the strip and the sphere. She did not have time to do any more.
I left Las Vegas continuing heading north on US95 through Nevada. Stayed over at a boondocking near Goldfield, NV and waking to burro's braying at the sunrise!
This town has quite a bit to see for such a small town.
Goldfield Gemfield mines, open to the public. Signs showing where particular colored or type of stone, then you walk about or use hand tools and "mine" your own gems! This area is relatively small you can walk to each spot. There are dirt roads all around as well.
I boondocked here 1 night and it was very quiet.
Now I don't know anything about gemstones but this is definitely interesting.
Touring Goldfield, NV, stop at Dinky Diner first, have breakfast and pick up brochures of the town.
Just outside of town is the International Car Forest. Similar to Cadillac Ranch but much bigger!
The drive up to Oregon was cold but beautiful. Nice scenery, shocking to be snow! Brrr, I am used to 70-75° weather!
It's very clear when you pass over the mountain range seeing the difference between high desert and coastal temperate zones.
Spending a day with Mom and sister Barbara and we chatted about family most of the day.
Arrived at brother Bob's and had a day seeing Bob's family and sister Mary before flying out to see Tanya.
Heading north to meet with the WINs going to Alaska I stopped over at Tulalip Casino for 2 nights, rainy days and I toured theHibulb Cultural Center.
This showing the history of the Natives from the area. I was really interested that clothes, rope, basket's were made of Cedar tree bark. Canoe's made of Cedar trees that hollow out when they mature.
Nearby a Pioneer Museum was closed so only a few outside exhibits were available to see.
Check out the dates on the Fir tree!
