Natchez Trace North to Nasheville, TN
Visiting Natchez, LA and antebellum homes then following the Natchez Trace all the way to Nashville, TN.
Longwood House an octagon shaped house that was never completed building because of the start of the civil war. Reminds me of Drayton Hall in Charleston, SC where they left the beams and walls exposed so you could see the method of construction.
Melrose Plantation home, National Park Service owns this.
Original family furniture
Large fan is called a shofly, obviously to shoo away the flies
This carpet on the right side is the original carpet for this home, made from canvas and painted. The carpet on the left is what we walked on.
Amazing condition.
A stop at Walmart and another Rialta parked next to us, making new friends has never been so much fun.
Staying at the Riverview campground on the west side of the Mississippi River and you can watch the tugboats pushing barges up and down the river. A good long hot shower and laundry was welcome too!
We spent 2 days touring Natchez before heading up the Natchez Trace Parkway. We saw a total of 5 of the 24 homes listed for touring ( Longwood, Magnolia Hall, Melrose, William Johnson House). There will always be another time to see more when coming back through here.
The drive was really nice for the speed limit is 50mph and no commercial vehicles are allowed. Stopping at markers depicting historical facts of the travelers and inhabitants of the Trace was interesting. Meeting people along the way was fun too, met 2 lady's traveling alone but sharing their trip we all had a nice cocktail hour and shared cooking a meal together.
Tupelo Mississippi has a car museum that had generations of cars, many different makes and models. Really worth stopping to see.

I'm now in Meriwether Lewis Campground along the Natchez Trace Parkway and reconnected with 2 other campers from the night before. Sometimes it's nice to share with others. The drive the last 100 miles was truly unique, I moved from early summer weather and foliage to late spring, spring, to early spring all over 100 miles! This is really cool!!!!
The next blog has disappeared completely, so I am adding a few pictures.
One of the 2 Lady's we met (Pat Jones) and I seemed to travel much faster than the others and found ourselves completing the Natchez Trace 2 days before they did.
So, these pictures are of us visiting Mammoth Caves, KY and the Horse Farm in Lexington, KY.
