2025 November in South East

After the fishing trip, I spent another few days with Tanya and also had lunch with my grandson Alex and his wife Bria.

Lunch was good, conversation was going well. My hearing aids un a restaurant needs a tune up though.... just saying.

So I leave mid day Sunday to beat the DC traffic and head south. Foliage is awesome along the way.

Catching up with Janet and JoAnn in Durham, NC they want a bike ride (30 miles) ! !

The next day we go to Raleigh for we learned that trolls have

2025 October Fishing Corpus Christi, TX

I flew to Corpus Christi, TX to meet my brother Bob for some reddish flyfishing at Padre Island National Park.

Day 1 I lead with 3 to 2 fish! First time ever that I have outfished him!

Day 2 and once again I lead at 2 to one, but Bob gets biggest fish so far.

Day 3 at Port Aransas, TX score 3-3 incudes a Hail Mary for Bob at end of day. This was a great trip,  great guide and as always a great time with my brother.

Guide Case

Last day in Corpus Christi, TX and a cold front came in with high winds and cold 63° temps. Not a good day for fishing so we go out and play tourist. Where do 2 retired US Navy sailors go!

Texas Maritime Museum!

I never knew that there was 3 separate designated Texas State Navy. Who knew?

I thought that they were describing Key West.

2025 Fall in New Hampshire, Vermont

Janet Henry and I have reconnected to travel together for a while. We arrived in Lebanon, NH and there is a hint of color in the foliage!

Something I am not doing a good job on is to share interactions with the people I meet during my travels. In Littleton, NH I went to an Applebee's for dinner. I parked at the same time as two ladies and we walked in together. When the hostess asked if there were three for dinner, we all looked at each other and I asked if they were inviting me to sit with them. They looked shocked, answered yes!

I have learned long ago that people want to talk about themselves and are not interested in my travels so I began asking them about their hometown, what do people do during the winter here? Where are good places to see?

Now they begin to open up and I learned that they have lived here all of their lives, never been farther than the state of New Hampshire. I pointed out some of the pictures on the walls and they were not aware that they were about this town! Now we all began to look around and they told me a few things about places in the pictures. So nice to meet some of the locals, get them to relax and share some things about their home town. Did you know that the woman who wrote the book Polyanna was born here?

Multiple bike rides along rail trails is beginning to look different with the trees changing colors.

A hike down a gorge to the river.

This is the Elks Lodge where we stayed, A repurposed barn!

Nearby was a car show put on by the Lions Club in a grassy field.

Hard for distance photo's to show the color.

There was a covered pedestrian bridge to go over the train tracks and up a hill.

a picture into the sun

This one I thought was more symbolic

See the ski slopes?

The bike trails are even brighter with foliage change now.

We noticed along the bike trail some pipes running through the forest. turns out to be maple collection. Janet shows how to get a sample of maple sap.
