Started the route in Kingman AZ because I did not want to travel inside California right now and friends were here and ready to go east. The weather has warmed lately and I am anxious to begin traveling.
Here is Bob checking out these cool cars. The Dinner next door owns this car museum.
Have to eat in the first Route 66 Dinner we see!!!
The local museum had a significant display about how Route 66 was inundated with people during the Depression. As farms and towns were abandoned in the "Dust Bowl" and people used Route 66 primarily to travel to California. There were also reports of how California Locals tried to keep people from entering California even began calling them Vagrants, Hobo's.
Anyway, this is one of many letters displayed from actual traveling family's.
There used to be so many roadside signs advertising Burma-Shave with cute statements. This is how it all started.
Here in this gas station/curio shop is a relly cool display.
